After winning the Un Certain Regard prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for BorderAli Abbasi is moving upmarket to Nights of Mashhad, which will be presented in official competition on the Croisette. The third feature film by the Danish filmmaker of Iranian origin takes place in Tehran, where a journalist investigates a series of feminicides hitting the holy city of Mashhad. The victims being prostitutes, the local authorities are in no hurry to see the case resolved…

A first excerpt has been unveiled by Metropolitan Films, which will release the film in France on July 13.
