4 years after his last film, the detective comedy Belleville Cop (with Omar Sy), Rachid Bouchareb returns to political cinema with Our Brothers. A new feature film rather fans of the line ofNativewhich had been rewarded in Cannes with a Collective Best Actor Award in 2006, and its sequel, Outlaw.
The Franco-Algerian director has brought together a fine cast, including Reda Kateb, Lyna Khoudri, Raphael Personnaz, Samir Guesmi and the young Adam Amara, to return to this painful episode in the history of France finally approached by fiction, almost 36 years after the facts. Little information has circulated on the feature film for the moment, but the official synopsis promises that it will address the case without detour, also focusing on the assassination of Abdel Benyahia, which occurred in Pantin a few hours intervals and very little publicized:
On the night of December 5 to 6, 1986, Malik Oussekine died following a police intervention, while Paris was rocked by student demonstrations against a new education reform. The Ministry of the Interior is all the more inclined to hush up this affair, as another Frenchman of Algerian origin, Abdel, was killed the same night by a police officer.
