Doctor Strange 2: a much darker end was planned at the start, reveals the screenwriter



Michael Waldron explains that Stephen Strange could well have gotten lost in the multiverse of madness…

The sequel to the adventures of Stephen Strange, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is one of the darkest films in the MCU. And according to the screenwriter Michael Waldronthe end could have been less happy than it is… Attention spoilers!

As reported Games Radarin the commented audio version, available in the United States on Disney Plus, Waldron looks back at the last minutes of the film. He says that it was originally planned that Sinister Strange, the Stephen Strange of Earth-838, would return to Earth-616 in place of the original, who remains stranded in the other universe. As a reminder, this character with the third eye is unable to live without Christine Palmer, the woman he loves, but dead in his dimension. To console himself, Sinister makes use of the Darkhold and instantly becomes corrupted, plunging his world into utter chaos.

Fortunately for the “real” Strange, this is not how the feature film ends. However, having also touched the Book of the Damned, he finds himself on his planet with a third eye…
